How to renew your card
Is your Student Leap Card about to expire?
If you are between 19 and 25 years of age, you can apply for a Young Adult Leap Card, so you can continue to avail of the 50% fare reductions. You can apply for it here and it will be posted out to you.
If you are under 19 or over 25 and you’re still in full time training or education, you can apply for a new Student TFI Leap Card.
If you are 26 years old or more and are no longer a student, you will need to get an Adult TFI Leap Card.
Renewing your Student TFI Leap Card
Before applying for a new card, you will need to ensure that you meet the below eligibility criteria.
- Students must be currently enrolled in full time training or education;
- Students must have a minimum of 16 hours of lectures/class time per week and be enrolled in the course for a minimum of 6 months/26 weeks;
- Full time international students who meet the criteria above are also entitled to apply for the Student Leap Card whilst in Ireland;
- Students enrolled as trainee Accountants (ACCA, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland), trainee Solicitors registered with the Law Society, full time SOLAS trainees/students and full time PLC students are also eligible;
- Students of online courses are not eligible to apply for the Student Leap Card;
- Students may be required to produce further evidence of eligibility (e.g., letter from their college or institution); and,
- International Students must upload their acceptance letters from Irish universities, confirming their admission. This documentation must be submitted in English.
